WJHA hosts annual Wyoming Junior Hereford Field Day

On May 29, junior exhibitors and Hereford enthusiasts from across the Rocky Mountain West gathered at the CAM-PLEX in Gillette for the annual Wyoming Junior Hereford Association (WJHA) Field Day. 

The show is the first on the circuit for the 2026 WJHA season and was held in conjunction with the Powder Basin Classic, an annual multi-day livestock show featuring top-tier competition. 

Showmanship winners

The 2026 WJHA Field Day kicked off with tough showmanship classes across five divisions. 

In the Pre-Peewee Division, Kit Collins of Buffalo was named champion, and Beckett Roth of Torrington was reserve champion.

Peewee Showman Peyton Tatman of Sheridan topped the podium in the following division, and Maddy Rodgers of Casper earned reserve champion honors.

In the Junior Division, Chesney Doubet took champion showman honors back home to Lodge Grass, Mont., while Charlea St. Louis of Yoder, Colo. celebrated a reserve champion finish. 

Fellow Yoder, Colo. Showman Teagan St. Louis also had a successful run, earning honors as the Champion Intermediate Showman, followed by Reserve Champion Intermediate Showman Kaylynn Weber of Shoshoni. 

To round out the showmanship classes, Torrington’s Sarah Birdsall was named the Champion Senior Showman, followed by Orin Sell of Decker, Mont. in reserve. 

Hereford champions

In the Hereford show, Sarah Birdsall continued her winning streak, taking home honors with both the Champion and Reserve Champion Bred and Owned Heifers – DHB 325L 3082 Amber 5084 and DHB 019 9003 Venessa 5083, respectively. 

Maddy Rodgers’ heifer MR Miss Ginger 5300 finished the Bred and Owned Division on the third tier of the podium, followed in fourth by DHB 019 3037 Kelly 5034, a heifer exhibited by Sam Birdsall of Torrington.

Rounding out the top five in the class was KL Lady CS 556, shown by Evander Spencer of Kaycee.

Chloe Collins graced the leaderboard for a second time during the Owned Heifer Division when her heifer Land Miss Callaway 2072 5056 ET was crowned champion. 

KJ DCC 181H Emerald 923N ET, shown by Teagan St. Louis, was the Reserve Champion Owned Heifer. 

Chloe Collins kept her winning streak rolling during the Registered Steer Division, earning champion honors with NJW 128J 83L Cast Iron 138 ET. Sheridan’s Wynn West finished the class in the reserve champion slot with her steer West Templeton 5909.

Maddy Rodgers’ L3 736 Lady Jerry 494 and MSR Jerry Fox 6400 were crowned the Champion Cow/Calf Pair, followed in reserve by Kaylynn Weber’s DHB 9526 8012 Sadie 2039 and KSPEAR DR Orchid W/A Candle. 

Hereford bulls were last to enter the ring, and as the competition came to an end, Chesney Doubet’s CCD Jack in the Box 84N ET was crowned champion, followed in reserve by Teagan St. Louis’ SCC Demand of Class 77N.
