NILE results posted for Continental breeds

On Oct. 10-18, cattle producers from across the U.S. and Canada gathered in Billings, Mont. for the 2025 Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE), where they competed in some of the toughest breed classes in the region. 

Cattlemen from Wyoming and other Western states made an impressive showing in Continental and Any Other Breed (AOB) classes during the week-long event. 

Charolais show results  

Livestock Judges Curtis Doubet of Belgrade, Mont. and John McCurry of Burrton, Kan. sorted through some of the most competitive Charolais cattle in the region. 

Both judges placed TR Miss Molly 4921, a daughter of M&M Outside 4003, first in the lineup, earning Jady LeDoux of Harrold, S.D. honors for the Grand Champion Junior Charolais Female and the Grand Champion Charolais Female.

In the junior show, Cora Tonne of Ephrata, Wash. followed in reserve with her heifer WC Sweetheart 4605P, sired by WC Premonition 138P ET, and in the open show, Clift Livestock of Ellensburg, Wash. claimed the reserve slot with CL7 MS Berkly Tally 2, a daughter of CCC WC Redemption 71.

CC CL7 Maverick 2413 P, sired by CCC WC Redemption 417 and shown by Brackyn Thayne of Altonah, Utah, was the Grand Champion Junior Charolais Bull. 

In the open show, TS Woodford Reserve 02M, sired by M&M Outside 4003 PLD and shown by Samantha Colson of Albany, Ore., was the Grand Champion Charolais Bull, while Clift Livestock’s CL7 Tahonta 2501P ET was the Reserve Champion Charolais Bull.

Gelbvieh/Balancer show results

Jayden Carrier of Hermosa, S.D. topped the Junior Gelbvieh/Balancer Shows at the 2025 NILE with MARV Neesa N2505, sired by KARR Rumfelt’s Prime Time, as the Grand Champion Junior Gelbvieh/Balancer Female and CJLL Nemo N2520, sired by VRT TV Sam U451, as the Grand Champion Junior Gelbvieh/Balancer Bull. 

Eva Petrick of Elgin, N.D. exhibited the Reserve Champion Junior Gelbvieh/Balancer Female Mimosa Mae, sired by Ramblin’ Man.

In the open shows, Ledgerwood Gelbvieh of Clarkston, Wash. took home honors with the Grand Champion Gelbvieh Female Ledgerwood Margarita, sired by JLSL Easy Rider 9160G ET, and the Reserve Champion Gelbvieh Bull Ledgerwood Nobel 531N, sired by JOB Danell TD Chico Loco.

Reserve Champion Gelbvieh Female and Grand Champion Gelbvieh Bull honors went home to Pueblo, Colo. with ProHart Seed Stock with ProHart Hattie 51M and ProHart Northern Blaze 53, respectively. Both were sired by K113.

Wyoming’s own Dale Steenbergen of Cheyenne earned top honors with Marilyn, sired by 02J, as the Grand Champion Balancer Female, followed by Carrier’s Maud Nellie N2538, sired by DLW Headline 9000K, in reserve.

ProHart Seed Stock topped the leaderboard again with the Grand Champion Balancer Bull ProHart Nomad 520N, a son of 384L MR Desparado 04, while Kathleen Rankin of Oilmont, Mont. exhibited the Reserve Champion Balancer Bull KHR 10N, sired by GRU Just N Time 714J.  

Maine Anjou/Mainetainer show results 

Montana breeders and exhibitors swept the Maine Anjou and Mainetainer shows at the NILE this year.

NFLL Pepper, a daughter of BMWZ Data Bank 1311 shown by Cassie Baker of Charlo, Mont., was named Grand Champion Female in both the junior and open Maine Anjou shows. 

In the junior show, Baker was followed by Grace Bartos of Roy, Mont. in reserve with MVH Miss Final Drive 534M, a daughter of MINN Final Drive 246K ET.

In the open show, reserve-champion honors went to BOE Martini 402M, sired by Weis All Me 10F and exhibited by Hearts and Diamonds Cattle of Worden, Mont.

XCD Nacho Boss 528N, a son of XCS Haymaker 037H shown by Katy Morris of Sun River, Mont., also earned double honors as the Grand Champion Junior Maine Anjou Bull and the Grand Champion Maine Anjou Bull.

Morris was followed in reserve by Emmery O’Hara of Fort Benton, Mont. in the junior show with MVH All of This 6341N ET, another son of Weis All Me 10F, and MVH Time is Now, a son of NAGE Just in Time 117J shown by O’Hara Land and Cattle of Fort Benton, Mont., in the open show. 

Baker also earned top honors in the junior and open Mainetainer shows, where her heifer CURC All Dreams 150M ET, sired by Weis All Me 10F, was named Grand Champion Junior Mainetainer Female and Grand Champion Mainetainer Female.  

Miss Charlotte, a daughter of KABG Kung Fu Panda 60J exhibited by Landon Daniels of Garland, Utah, claimed the Reserve Champion Mainetainer Female title in both the junior and open shows. 

Likewise, SMMT Endless Fame 406M, sired by TJSC End Game 61G ET and shown by Coen Cahoon of Charlo, Mont., was the Grand Champion Mainetainer Bull in both the junior and open shows, followed in reserve by CHC Sweethearts Cupid, a son of KABG Kung Fu Panda 60J and shown by Cooper Clark of Missoula, Mont. 

Simmental show results 

Aribella Beins of Deweyville, Utah and Chael Roberts of Absarokee, Mont. topped the leaderboard in both the junior and open Simmental shows. 

Beins’ RJ PF Rita M513, sired by SO Remedy 7F, was named Grand Champion Junior Simmental Female and Grand Champion Simmental Female, while Roberts’ heifer Dwyer/RSF Miss Honey Bee 410M, a daughter of W/C Relentless, claimed the reserve slot in both shows. 

Additionally, Beins exhibited the Grand Champion Junior Simmental Bull TPHT Testify N451, sired by RP-BCR Insight G302, while Kane’s Double Shot 39N, a son of WHF/JS/CS Double Up shown by Quentin Harwood of Geyser, Mont., followed in reserve.

In the open show, Jonna McCullough of Fort Benton, Mont. took home Grand Champion Simmental Bull honors with TSR Shellshock 519N, a son of SSC Shell Shocked 44B, while fellow Montana breeder SidBar Cattle of Hardin, Mont. exhibited the Reserve Champion Simmental Bull SidBar Scared Money, another son of WCH/JS/CCS Double Up.

Texas Longhorn show results 

Wyoming cattlemen dominated the Texas Longhorn Show. 

Belle Longhorns of Douglas took home honors for the grand and reserve champion females in both the junior and open shows with Belle Penny and Belle Billy’s Diamond Lil, respectively. 

Belle Longhorns also exhibited the Grand Champion Junior Texas Longhorn Steer Belle Salty Carl and the Reserve Champion Junior Texas Longhorn Bull Belle Billy Jack. 

Maverick 300, shown by Kris Johnson of Big Horn, was the Reserve Champion Junior Texas Longhorn Steer, and SL Coal, shown by Shelby Mohr of Lost Springs, was the Grand Champion Junior Texas Longhorn Bull.

Johnson’s winning streak continued in the non-haltered division of the open show, claiming three of the four slots on the leaderboard. 

The Wyoming exhibitor’s Mandolin Rain was named Grand Champion Non-Haltered Mature Female, followed by Sangria in the reserve champion slot. 

Johnson also earned honors for the Reserve Champion Non-Haltered Female with Eye of the Tiger, behind TCR Angel’s Envy 31, shown by Jeff and Jordan Widdows of Johnston, Colo.

In the haltered division of the open show, Johnson’s Diamond Dollar earned Grand Champion Haltered Mature Female honors, while Witch Doctor 17, exhibited by Jesse Dewey of Big Horn, claimed the reserve champion title in the same division. 

Johnson and Dewey also exhibited the grand and reserve champion steers in the open show, with M.C. Ren and MG Americas Cherokee, respectively.

Pecos Tuff, shown by Bill Dennert of Box Elder, S.D., was the Grand Champion Texas Longhorn Bull in the open show, followed by Mohr’s SL Coal in the reserve slot. 

AOB show results 

In the 2025 NILE AOB Show, Allie Sorensen of Spanish Fork, Utah and Radley Berry of Port Orchard, Wash. had an impressive showing, taking home six of seven titles between the two. 

Sorensen’s NSUL Jump of Faith 66M, a daughter of Jumpstart, was named grand champion female in both the junior and open shows. 

Berry’s heifer Berrys Lioness, sired by Stag Good Times 201 ET, claimed the reserve slot in both shows, while his bull Berrys Nitro, a son of CJSL Windfall, earned top honors as the Grand Champion Junior AOB Bull and Grand Champion AOB Bull. 

Blegen Galloways of Roundup, Mont. exhibited the Reserve Champion AOB Bull HB Money Maker 254, a son of HB Moto Moto 3342.
