Angus bulls make impressive showing at 2024 Midland Bull Test 

A large group of competitive Angus bulls made an impressive showing during the Midland Bull Test this year. 

Angus bulls were broken into two groups and two classes. Group 1 included all falls bulls and one-half of the spring-born bulls, while Group 2 included spring-born bulls exclusively. 

Class 1 includes low-birth bulls and Class 2 is average and above-average weight bulls. 

The final report shows a collective average daily gain (ADG) for Group 1 Class 1 bulls of 3.38 and a collective weight per day of age (WDA) of 3.21. Group 1 Class 2 bulls had an average ADG of 3.53 and WDA of 3.34. 

In Group 2 Class 1, the final report shows a collective ADG of 3.28 and a WDA of 2.97, while Group 2 Class 2 bulls had an average ADG of 3.38 and WDA of 3.13. 

Leaders in each group and class in ADG, WDA, Efficiency (Eff) and Midland Bull Test (MBT) Index are listed below.

Angus bulls will sell on April 5 as lots 1 through 477. 

Group 1 Class 1 (low birth) ADG

Lot 155 was the ADG leader of the Group 1 Class 1 Angus Bulls with an ADG of 4.56. This bull was consigned by Byergo Beef Genetics, LLC of Nevada, Mo. and sired by VAR Revelation 6299. He had a WDA of 3.69 and has EPDs of BW 1, WW 78, YW 140, M 28, RFI 2.60, Eff 103 and MBT 116.

Next was lot 172 with an ADG of 4.51. A son of GAR Home Town, this bull was consigned by KB Angus of Merritt, Minn. and has EPDs of BW -0.5, WW 74, YW 137, M 26, RFI -0.62, Eff 111 and MBT 112. He had a  WDA of 3.47. 

Lot 106 claimed the third-place position with an ADG of 4.29. This bull had a WDA of 3.45 and has EPDs of BW -0.1, WW 74, YW 132, M 20, RFI 0.22, Eff 102 and MBT 110. He was consigned by Marda Angus Farm, LLC of Lodi, Wis. and sired by Connealy Big Valley.

Lot 151, a bull consigned by Byergo Beef Genetics, LLC, was fourth place with an ADG of 4.25. Sired by Roseda Powerball23 F091, he has EPDs of BW 0.6, WW 84, YW 152, M 33, RFI 5.18, Eff 94 and MBT 113. He had a WDA  of 3.76. 

Lots 162 and 177 rounded out the bunch in a two-way tie for fifth place with an ADG of 4.12.

Lot 162 is a son of Virgina Tech Statesman, consigned by KB Angus. This bull had a WDA of 3.59 and has EPDs of BW 0.2, WW 93, YW 177, M 31, RFI 0.11, Eff 99 and MBT 111.

Lot 177 is a son of Sterling Confidence Plus 804 and was consigned by Butternut Ridge Farms of Coldwater, Minn. This bull had a WDA of 3.34 and has EPDs of BW 0.8, WW 69, YW 131, M 30, RFI -0.46, Eff 105 and MBT 110. 

Group 1 Class 2 ADG 

Marda Angus Farm, LLC consigned the leader of the Group 1 Class 2 Angus Bulls – lot 107, with an ADG of 4.56. This bull was sired by Ellingson Three Rivers 8062 and has EPDs of BW 2.8, WW 97, YW 168, M 28, RFI 1.21, Eff 103 and MBT 111. He had a WDA of 3.52.

The bull in second place was Butternut Ridge Farms’ lot 180 with an ADG of 4.47. Sired by McD Effective 789, this bull had a WDA of 3.69 and has EPDs of BW 5.3, WW 91, YW 155, M 31, RFI -4.70, Eff 120 and MBT 118. 

A six-way tie occurred for third place between lots 136, 138, 153, 169, 185 and 186, all of which reported an ADG of 4.42. 

Lot 136 was consigned by Stewart Select Angus of Greensburg, Ind. and is a son of SS Niagara Z29. He had a WDA of 3.45 and has EPDs of BW 1.5, WW 78, YW 139, M 23, RFI 1.57, Eff 100 and MBT 107. 

Stewart Select Angus also consigned lot 138, a son of SS Triton with a WDA of 3.38 and EPDs of BW 3.9, WW 72, YW 126, M 42, RFI -0.15, Eff 107 and MBT 109. 

Consigned by Byergo Beef Genetics, LLC, lot 153 has EPDs of BW 2.2, WW 92, YW 161, M 26, RFI 1.90, Eff 104 and MBT 112. He had a WDA of 3.52. This bull was sired by Williams Jonesboro 700-602.

Lot 169 is a son of GAR Home Town and was consigned by KB Angus. This bull had a WDA of 3.64 and has EPDs of BW 2.8, WW 91, YW 160, M 26, RFI 0.51, Eff 101 and MBT 111. 

Ramsey Angus of Frankfort, Ind. consigned lot 185, a son of Sterling Pacific 904. This bull had a WDA of 3.44 and has EPDs of BW 2.2, WW 94, YW 156, M 24, RFI -4.67, Eff 122 and MBT 113. 

Lot 186 was also consigned by Ramsey Angus and sired by Sterling Pacific 904. This bull had a WDA of 3.58 and has EPDs of BW 2.7, WW 82, YW 135, M 20, RFI 0.49, Eff 112 and MBT 113. 

Group 2 Class 1 (low birth) ADG

An ADG of 4.77 landed lot 457 at the top of the leaderboard in the Group 2 Class 1 Angus Bulls ADG category. This bull was consigned by VGA Livestock of Manhattan, Mont. and is a son of CAR Legendary 026. He had a WDA of 3.08 and has EPDs of BW -1.7, WW 68, YW 117, M 21, RFI 0.13, Eff 111 and MBT 120. 

Lots 278 and 456 tied for the second-place slot with an ADG of 4.14. 

Consigned by Sandman Cattle, Inc. of Maple Park, Ill., lot 278 has EPDs of BW 0.6, WW 88, YW 144, M 16, RFI 2.56, Eff 107 and MBT 111. He had a WDA of 2.94. 

Lot 456 was consigned by VGA Livestock and is a son of CAR Legendary 026. This bull had a WDA of 2.75 and has EPDs of BW 0.5, WW 70, YW 124, M 22, RFI 1.19, Eff 105 and MBT 114. 

Another two-way tie occurred between lots 460 and 474 for fourth place, both reporting an ADG of 4.05. 

Lot 460 was consigned by VGA Livestock and sired by CAR Legendary 026. He has EPDs of BW -0.4, WW 73, YW 128, M 18, RFI 1.43, Eff 100 and MBT 110. He had a WDA of 2.91. 

Zentner Angus Ranch of Bridger, Mont. consigned lot 474. Sired by SAV Scale House 0845, this bull had a WDA of 2.80 and has EPDs of BW 0.8, WW 79, YW 141, M 25, RFI 1.76, Eff 101 and MBT 105.

Group 2 Class 2 ADG 

The Group 2 Class 2 Angus ADG leader was lot 351 with an ADG of 4.55. This bull was consigned by Moore Angus of Artesian, S.D. and sired by Moore Super Duty 001. He has EPDs of BW 2.8, WW 91, YW 163, M 28, Eff 100 and MBT 120. He had a WDA of 4.14. No RFI data was reported for this bull. 

Lots 462 and 473 tied for second place with an ADG of 4.50. 

VGA Livestock’s lot 462 was sired by VGA Infinity 1720 and has EPDs of BW 3.2, WW 62, YW 101, M 22, RFI 0.44, Eff 109 and MBT 111. He had a WDA of 2.90. 

Lot 473 was consigned by Zentner Angus Ranch and is a son of Deer Valley Growth Fund. This bull had a WDA of 3.19 and has EPDs of BW 0.7, WW 80, YW 143, M 30, RFI 2.89, Eff 94 and MBT 109. 

A four-way tie occurred between lots 276, 461, 465 and 466 for fourth place, all of which reported an ADG 4.41.  

Consigned by 10-T Farms of Lincoln, Neb., lot 276 was sired by KCF Bennett The Rock A473 and has EPDs of BW 1.4, WW 83, YW 138, M 25, RFI 0.84, Eff 103 and MBT 114. He had a WDA  of 3.37. 

VGA Livestock consigned lot 461, a son of CAR Legendary 026, with EPDs of BW 1.5, WW 66, YW 119, M 21, RFI 5.11, Eff 97 and MBT 109. He had a WDA of 2.90. 

Lots 465 and 466 were both consigned by Zentner Angus Ranch. 

Lot 465 was sired by Deer Valley Growth Fund and has EPDs of BW 0.7, WW 80, YW 143, M 30, Eff 100 and MBT 108. He had a WDA of 3.17. No RFI data was reported for this bull. 

A son of SAV Scale House 0845, lot 466 had a WDA of 2.96 and has EPDs of BW 0.8, WW 79, YW 141, M 25, RFI -0.29, Eff 105 and MBT 107. 

Group 1 Class 1 (low birth) WDA 

A son of Roseda Powerball23 F091, lot 151 was the leader of the Group 1 Class 1 WDA category. This bull had a WDA of 3.76, an ADG of 4.25 and has EPDs of BW 0.6, WW 84, YW 152, M 33, RFI 5.18, Eff 94 and MBT 113. 

With a WDA of 3.69, lot 155 claimed the second-place position. This bull is sired by VAR Revelation and has EPDs of BW 1, WW 78, YW 140, M 28, RFI 2.60, Eff 103 and MBT 116. He had an ADG of 4.56. 

The third place bull was lot 162 with a WDA of 3.59. Sired by Virginia Tech Statesman, this bull had an ADG of 4.12 and has EPDs of BW 0.2, WW 93, YW 177, M 31, RFI 0.11, Eff 99 and MBT 111. 

Next was lot 70 with a WDA of 3.55. This bull was consigned by Fisher Angus of Okeene, Okla. and sired by Linz Exemplify 71124. He had an ADG of 3.54 and has EPDs of BW 0.2, WW 77, YW 138, M 31, RFI -1.12, Eff 112 and MBT 109. 

Rounding out the class was lot 150 with a WDA of 3.51. Consigned by Byergo Beef Genetics, LLC, this bull has EPDs of BW 0.8, WW 83, YW 137, M 25, RFI -1.57, Eff 101 and MBT 106. He had an ADG of 3.32. He was sired by Sitz Resilient 10208. 

Group 1 Class 2 WDA 

Lot 54 topped the leaderboard in his class with a WDA of 4.18. Consigned by Eagle Grip Cattle Company of Denair, Calif. and sired by Hoover No Doubt, this bull had a ADG of 3.98 and has EPDs of BW 2.6, WW 80, YW 152, M 25, RFI 1.39, Eff 102 and MBT 108. 

Eagle Grip Cattle Company consigned the second place bull in the group as well – lot 55, with a WDA of 4.02. This bull was sired by Baldridge Pappy and had an ADG of 4.12, as well as EPDs of BW 2, WW 74, YW 143, M 30, RFI 0.13, Eff 101 and MBT 107. 

In third was lot 163 with a WDA of 3.82. This bull was consigned by KB Angus and sired by BJ Surpass. He has EPDs of BW 1.4, WW 90, YW 156, M 39, RFI -2.14, Eff 111 and MBT 114. He had an ADG of 4.38. 

Lot 66, jointly consigned by 7 Oaks Angus of Denair, Calif. and Eagle Grip Cattle Company, came in fourth with a WDA of 3.79. A son of Baldridge Pappy, this bull has EPDs of BW 0.4, WW 82, YW 146, M 16, RFI 0.35, Eff 103 and MBT 104. He had an ADG of 3.36. 

Lots 166 and 159 tied for fourth place in the Group 1 Class 2 WDA category with a WDA of 3.77.

Lot 166 was consigned by KB Angus and sired by Connealy Clarity. He had an ADG of 4.38 and has EPDs of BW 1, WW 92, YW 166, M 30, RFI 1.41, Eff 98 and MBT 108.

Lot 159 was consigned by Byergo Beef Genetics, LLC and sired by KCF Bennett Exponential. He had an ADG of 4.12 and has EPDs of BW 1.7, WW 84, YW 152, M 27, RFI 2.23, Eff 99 and MBT 110.

Group 2 Class 1 (low birth) WDA 

In Group 2 Class 1, the WDA leader was lot 209 with a WDA of 3.78. This bull was consigned by Granger Angus of Great Falls, Mont. and sired by Stevenson Easy Money 0079. He has EPDs of BW 1.1, WW 74, YW 135, M 23, RFI 01.34, Eff 112 and MBT 116. He had an ADG of 3.92. 

The second-place position was claimed by lot 353 with a WDA of 3.62. Consigned by Moore Angus and sired by SITZ Resilient 10208, this bull has EPDs of BW 0.2, WW 80, YW 135, M 37, RFI -0.71, Eff 99 and MBT 102. He had an ADG of 2.88.

Third place went to lot 207 with a WDA of 3.60. This bull had an ADG of 3.60 and has EPDs of BW 0.7, WW 67, YW 108, M 30, RFI -0.97, Eff 107 and MBT 110. He was consigned by Granger Angus and sired by Baldridge Versatile. 

In fourth place was lot 261, consigned by Deppe Angus of Waverly, Iowa, reporting a WDA of 3.58. A son of Ellingson Deep River, this bull had an ADG of 3.47 and has EPDs of BW 0.7, WW 79, YW 147, M 38, RFI 1.04, Eff 88 and MBT 108. 

Rounding out the class was lot 316, a son of Hoffman Thedford, with a WDA of 3.54. This bull was consigned by Alpine Angus of Roscoe, Mont. and has EPDs of BW -1.5, WW 70, YW 134, M 29, RFI -0.40, Eff 106 and MBT 111. He had an ADG of 3.78. 

Group 2 Class 2 WDA 

A WDA of 4.14 landed lot 351 at the top of the Group 2 Class 2 WDA leaderboard. A son of Moore Super Duty 001, this bull had an ADG of 4.55 and has EPDs of BW 2.8, WW 91, YW 163, M 28, Eff 100 and MBT 120. No RFI data was reported for this bull.

Granger Angus’ lot 208 claimed second-place honors with a WDA of 3.94. This bull was sired by Baldridge Versatile and had an ADG of 3.96, as well as EPDs of BW 3.1, WW 95, YW 169, M 23, RFI -0.55, Eff 111 and MBT 115. 

Another Granger Angus bull, lot 206, was third in the lineup with a WDA of 3.88. This bull was also sired by Baldridge Versatile and reports EPDs of BW 1.9, WW 85, YW 152, M 19, Eff 100 and MBT 114. He had an ADG of 4.10. No RFI data was reported for this bull. 

A two-way tie between lots 250 and 253 occurred for fifth place. Both of these bulls were consigned by Deppe Angus. 

Lot 250 is a son of Crouch Congress and has EPDs of BW 3.3, WW 103, YW 173, M 36, RFI 2.03, Eff 96 and MBT 111. He had an ADG of 3.83. 

Lot 253 was sired by Musgrave Redemption and has EPDs of BW 2.6, WW 106, YW 177, M 29, RFI -1.76, Eff 111 and MBT 116. He had an ADG of 3.78. 

Group 1 Class 1 (low birth) Eff

Winding River Angus of Billings, Mont. consigned the top Eff bull in Group 1 Class 1. This bull was sired by Hoffman Thedford and had an ADG of 3.27, a WDA of 3.22 and has EPDs of BW -2.3, WW 61, YW 111, M 37, RFI -4.28 and MBT 105. 

The second bull in the class was lot 70, consigned by Fisher Angus, with an Eff of 112. This bull had an ADG of 3.54, a WDA of 3.55 and has EPDs of BW 0.2, WW 77, YW 138, M 31, RFI -1.12 and MBT 109. He was sired by Linz Exemplify 71124. 

Group 1 Class 2 Eff 

The Group 1 Class 2 Angus bulls were led by lot 185 with an Eff of 122. A son of Sterling Pacific 904, this bull had an ADG of 4.42, a WDA of 3.44 and has EPDs of BW 2.2, WW 94, YW 156, M 24, RFI -4.67 and MBT 113. 

Next was lot 10 with an Eff of 121. This bull was consigned by Aiton Angus of Harlowtown, Mont. and sired by LAR Man in Black. He had an ADG of 3.76, a WDA of 3.57 and has EPDs of BW 2.8, WW 94, YW 168, M 31, RFI -3.70 and MBT 112. 

Lot 180 placed third with an Eff of 120. This bull was sired by McD Effective 789 and has EPDs of BW 5.3, WW 91, YW 155, M 31, RFI -4.70 and MBT 118, as well as an ADG of 4.47 and a WDA of 3.69. 

In fourth place was lot 19, consigned by Les Craft Angus of Columbus, Mont., with an Eff of 117. This bull was sired by Baldridge Versatile and had an ADG of 3.14 and a WDA of 3.18. He has EPDs of BW 1.9, WW 95, YW 159, M 13, RFI -3.26 and MBT 104. 

Winding River Angus’ lot 28 finished the class in fifth place with an Eff of 114. This son of LAR Man in Black has EPDs of BW 2.4, WW 89, YW 159, M 28, RFI -2.51 and MBT 115. He had an ADG of 4.34 and a WDA of 3.58.

Group 2 Class 1 (low birth) Eff

Berry Angus of Reed Point, Mont. consigned the Group 2 Class 1 Eff leader – lot 315, with an Eff of 117. This bull was sired by SITZ Profound 680G and had an ADG of 3.69 and a WDA of 3.30, as well as EPDs of BW -1.5, WW 60, YW 112, M 20, RFI -3.90 and MBT 110. 

An Eff of 114 landed lots 319 and 377 in a two-way tie for second place. 

Lot 319 was consigned by FF Ranch of Ronan, Mont. and sired by Tehama Patriarch F028. He had an ADG of 3.38, a WDA of 3.19 and has EPDs of BW -0.6, WW 65, YW 115, M 28, RFI -2.91 and MBT 107. 

Lot 377 is a son of DB Iconic G95 and has EPDs of BW -0.8, WW 74, YW 127, M 30, RFI -1.83 and MBT 113. He had an ADG of 3.38 and a WDA of 3.03. He was consigned by Sunny Okanogan Angus of Omak, Wash. 

Lot 300 received honors as the fourth-place bull in the class with an Eff of 113. Consigned by Marda Angus Farm, LLC and sired by Crouch Congress, this bull has EPDs of BW -0.2, WW 96, YW 157, M 17, RFI -2.25 and MBT 111. He had an ADG of 3.78 and a WDA of 2.95. 

Rounding out the class was lot 209 with an Eff of 112. A son of Stevenson Easy Money 0079, this bull had an ADG of 3.92, a WDA of 3.78 and has EPDs of BW 1.1, WW 74, YW 135, M 23, RFI -1.34 and MBT 116. 

Group 2 Class 2 Eff

Lot 339 topped the leaderboard in the Group 2 Class 2 Eff category. This bull was consigned by J.J. Scheckel Performance Angus of Bellvue, Iowa and sired by SAV Allegiance 6277. He had an ADG of 3.87, a WDA of 3.13 and has EPDs of BW 3.8, WW 68, YW 118, M 19, RFI -4.45 and MBT 108.

Next was lot 357, consigned by Bluegrass Angus Farm of Lyons, Neb., with an Eff of 122. This son of Sterling Bond 007 had an ADG of 3.33, a WDA of 3.10 and has EPDs of BW 2, WW 84, YW 144, M 25, RFI -3.35 and MBT 109. 

In third was lot 406 with an Eff of 117. Consigned by Coombs Cattle Company of Riverside, Utah and sired by GAR Home Town, this bull had an ADG of 3.24, a WDA of 3.37 and has EPDs of BW 2.5, WW 76, YW 133, M 30, RFI -3.48 and MBT 106. 

Fourth place went to lot 379 with an Eff of 115. This bull had an ADG of 3.56, a WDA of 3.09 and has EPDs of BW 3.6, WW 88 YW 148, M 28, RFI -3.68 and MBT 110. He is a son of GA Big Valley 3070 and was consigned by Sunny Okanogan Angus. 

J.J. Scheckel Performance Angus’ lots 337 and 335 tied for fifth place in this class with an Eff of 114. 

Lot 337 was sired by SAV Resource 1441 and has EPDs of BW 4.4, WW 69, YW 113, M 12, RFI -2.62 and MBT 103. He had an ADG of 3.60 and a WDA of 3.18. 

A son of SAV Lineage 9576, lot 335 had an ADG of 3.42, a WDA of 3 and has EPDs of BW 8.5, WW 85, YW 153, M 23, RFI -2.09 and MBT 107. 

Group 1 Class 1 (low birth) MBT Index

In Group 1 Class 1, the MBT Index leader was lot 155 with an MBT of 116. This bull was sired by McD Effective 789 and has EPDs of BW 5.3, WW 91, YW 155, M 31, RFI -4.70 and Eff 120. He had an ADG of 4.47 and a WDA of 3.69. 

The second-place position was claimed by lot 151 with an MBT of 113. Sired by Roseda Powerball23 F091, this bull has EPDs of BW 0.6, WW 84, YW 152, M 33, RFI 5.18 and Eff 94. He had an ADG of 4.25 and a WDA of 3.76.

Third place went to lot 172 with an MBT of 112. This bull had an ADG of 4.51, a WDA of 3.47 and has EPDs of BW -0.5, WW 74, YW 137, M 26, RFI -0.62 and Eff 107. He was sired by GAR Home Town. 

In fourth place was lot 162, reporting an MBT of 111. A son of Virginia Tech Statesman, this bull had an ADG of 4.12, a WDA of 3.59 and has EPDs of BW 0.2, WW 93, YW 177, M 31, RFI 0.11 and Eff 99.

Rounding out the class was lot 106, a son of Connealy Big Valley, with an MBT of 110. This bull was consigned by Marda Angus Farm, LLC and has EPDs of BW -0.1, WW 74, YW 132, M 20, RFI 0.22 and Eff 102. He had an ADG of 4.29 and WDA of 3.45. 

Group 1 Class 2 MBT Index

An MBT of 118 landed lot 180 at the top of the Group 1 Class 2 MBT Index leaderboard. A son of McD Effective 789, this bull had an ADG of 4.47, a WDA of 3.69 and has EPDs of BW 5.3, WW 91, YW 155, M 31, RFI -4.70 and Eff 120.

Lot 28 claimed second-place honors with an MBT of 115. This bull was sired by LAR Man in Black and had an ADG of 4.34, a WDA of 3.58 and has EPDs of BW 2.4, WW 89, YW 159, M 28, RFI -2.51 and Eff 114.

Lot 163 was third in the lineup with an MBT of 114. This bull was sired by BJ Surpass and reports EPDs of BW 1.4, WW 90, YW 156, M 39, RFI -2.14 and Eff 111. He had an ADG of 4.38 and a WDA of 3.82.

A two-way tie between lots 186 and 185 occurred for fifth place. Both of these bulls were consigned by Ramsey Angus, sired by Sterling Pacific 904 and have an MBT of 113. 

Lot 186 has EPDs of BW 2.7, WW 82, YW 135, M 20, RFI 0.49 and Eff 112. He had an ADG of 4.42 and a WDA of 3.58.

Group 2 Class 1

(low birth) MBT Index

Lot 457 was the MBT Index leader of the Group 2 Class 1 Angus Bulls with an MBT of 120. This bull was sired by CAR Legendary 026 and had an ADG of 4.77, a WDA of 3.08 and has EPDs of BW -1.7, WW 68, YW 117, M 21, RFI 0.13 and Eff 111.

MBT Index

Lot 351 topped the leaderboard in his class with an MBT of 120. Sired by Moore Super Duty 001, this bull had an ADG of 4.55, a WDA of 4.14 and has EPDs of BW 2.8, WW 91, YW 163, M 28 and Eff 100. No RFI data was reported for this bull.

Lot 206 came in second with an MBT of 114. This bull was sired by Baldridge Versatile and had an ADG of 4.10, a WDA of 3.88 and has EPDs of BW 1.9, WW 85, YW 152, M 19 and Eff 100. No RFI data was reported for this bull. 

Lots 230 and 253 tied for third place with an MBT of 116. 

Consigned by Woirhaye Cattle Company of Darby, Mont., lot 230 reports EPDs of BW 2.9, WW 91, YW 157, M 26, RFI 1.10 and Eff 112. He had an ADG of 4.37 and a WDA of 3.34. He is a son of Sterling Pacific 904.

Lot 253 is a son of Musgrave Redemption with EPDs of BW 2.6, WW 106, YW 177, M 29, RFI -1.76 and Eff 111. He had an ADG of 3.78 and a WDA of 3.87.

Lots 259 and 208 tied for fifth place with an MBT of 115. 

Deppe Angus’ lot 259 was sired by Ellingson Deep River and had an ADG of 3.78, a WDA of 3.77 and has EPDs of BW 3.6, WW 88, YW 160, M 31, RFI -3.75 and Eff 113.

Lot 208 is a son of Baldridge Versatile, reporting EPDs of BW 3.1, WW 95, YW 169, M 23, RFI -0.55 and Eff 111. He had an ADG of 3.96 and a WDA of 3.94.

Midland Bull Test Awards

Sale bulls in each breed qualify for Midland Bull Test Performance Awards, based on performance, semen evaluation and soundness. 

Group 1 and Group 2 Angus Bulls qualify for awards for the Champion Pen of Three, the Champion Sire group, the Champion High Indexing Bull, the Champion ADG Bull, the Champion WDA Bull, the Champion Low Birth ADG Bull and Champion High Efficiency Bull.

As of March 11, pending semen results and registration documents, the Overall Champion Pen of Three from both groups were lots 206, 208 and 209, consigned by Granger Angus, with an MBT of 115. Deppe Angus had the Overall Reserve Champion Pen of Three – lots 250, 253 and 259 – with an MBT of 114. 

VGA Livestock’s lots 456, 457 and 460 – all sired by CAR Legendary 026 – received the Overall Champion Sire Group  Award, followed by Granger Angus’ lots 206, 207 and 208 – all sired by Baldridge Versatile – as the Overall Reserve Champion Sire Group. 

In Group 1, the Champion High Indexing Bull was lot 180, consigned by Butternut Ridge Farms, with an MBT of 118, Byergo Beef Genetics, LLC’s lot 155 was the Reserve High Indexing Bull with an MBT of 116. 

The Champion Group 1 ADG Bull was lot 107, consigned by Marda Angus Farms, LLC with an ADG of 4.56, and the Reserve Champion ADG Bull in the group was lot 180 with an ADG of 4.47, consigned by Butternut Ridge Farms. 

Eagle Grip Cattle Company consigned the top two WDA bulls in Group 1. The Champion WDA Bull was lot 54 with a WDA of 4.18 and lot 55 was reserve with a WDA of 4.02. 

Group 1’s Champion Low Birth ADG Bull was lot 155, reporting an ADG of 4.56. This bull was consigned by Byergo Beef Genetics, LLC. Lot 172 was the Reserve Low Birth ADG Bull in Group 1 with an ADG of 4.51. He was consigned by KB Angus. 

The Champion Group 1 High Efficiency Bull was lot 185, consigned by Ramsey Angus, with an Eff of 122. The Reserve High Efficiency Bull was lot 10, consigned by Aiton Angus, with an Eff of 121. 

KB Angus took home honors with both the champion and reserve Group 1 sire groups. 

The Champion Sire Group Award went to lots 169, 172 and 173 – all sired by GAR Home Town – and the Reserve Champion Sire Group Award went to lots 161, 166 and 170 – all sired by Connealy Clarity.

In Group 2, Moore Angus’ lot 351 and VGA Livestock’s lot 457 both received the Champion High Indexing Bull Award, each reporting an MBT of 120. With an MBT of 116, Woirhaye Cattle Company’s lot 230, Deppe Angus’ lot 253 and Granger Angus’ lot 209 all received honors as the Reserve High Indexing Bull. 

The Champion Group 2 ADG Bull was lot 351, consigned by Moore Angus, with an ADG of 4.55. Two bulls – lot 462, consigned by VGA Livestock and lot 473, consigned by Zentner Angus – were the Reserve Champion ADG Bulls in the group with an ADG of 4.50.

Moore Angus consigned the Champion Group 2 WDA Bull – lot 351 with a WDA of 4.14. Lot 208, consigned by Granger Angus, was the Reserve WDA Bull in the group with a WDA of 3.94.

Group 2’s Champion Low Birth ADG Bull was lot 457, reporting an ADG of 4.77. This bull was consigned by VGA Livestock. Lot 456, consigned by VGA Livestock, and lot 278, consigned by Sandman Cattle Inc., were the Reserve Low Birth ADG Bulls in Group 2 with an ADG of 4.14.

The Champion Group 2 High Efficiency Bull was lot 339, consigned by J.J. Scheckel Performance Angus, with an Eff of 126. The Reserve High Efficiency Bull was lot 357, consigned by Bluegrass Angus Farm, with an Eff of 122. 

VGA Livestock took home top honors with the Group 2 Champion Sire Group – lots 456, 457 and 460, all consigned by CAR Legendary 026, with an MBT of 115. Granger Angus’ lots 206, 207 and 208 were the Reserve Champion Sire Group with an MBT of 113. These bulls were sired by Baldridge Versatile.
