Wyoming Wool Growers Association president welcomes producers to ram sale

by Wyoming Livestock Roundup

On behalf of the Wyoming Wool Growers Association (WWGA), I’d like to extend an invitation to all sheep producers in Wyoming, and all outside states, to come join us for the 94th edition of the Wyoming State Ram Sale to be held in Douglas Sept. 12-13 at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds.

What a great chance to study, and hopefully purchase, some of the most elite genetics from some of the very best seedstock producers this country has to offer.

I, like many of you, have been attending this sale for a good many years now and though I haven’t made them all, I’ve been fortunate enough to make the majority of them, dating back to when the sale was still in Casper.

Over the years, even if I didn’t need rams, I’ve still tried to attend. It’s always a pleasure to not only see these great animals, but visit with people who raised them and get a sense of what they’re striving for and maybe what their challenges are as purebred breeders. They always want our input as buyers, and I appreciate hearing where their breeding programs are headed in the future.

The sale is also a great chance to catch up with other sheep people you haven’t seen for a while or meet some new ones. Topics, beyond the rams themselves, range from the lamb market (or lack thereof), to the price of hay, to how much rain everyybody’s getting, to a whole host of other sheep-related topics.

In short, whether you’re in need of the special buck that might change your program, the pen of rams that will continue the program you want, a day away from the place to get a direction for the future or maybe a good visit with friends, we welcome you and look forward to seeing you there.
