National Western Stock Show kicks off 2018 event in early January

by Wyoming Livestock Roundup

Denver, Colo. – With eyes set on the future, the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) has set kick off for its 112th event on Jan. 6. Denver, Colo. will be abuzz with livestock shows, agriculture industry exhibits, educational opportunities and the chance for fellowship with others in the agriculture industry.

The event kicks off on Jan. 4 with the 2018 NWSS parade, which will be headlined by Grand Marshal “Thunder,” the Denver Broncos team mascot.

NWSS, established in 1906, is the premier livestock, rodeo and horse show in the nation, serving agricultural producers and consumers throughout the world, and each year, the event comes to Denver, Colo. for 16 days.

“Throughout this historic event, NWSS strives to strengthen American agriculture through enrichment programs and youth education in livestock, equestrian, farming, ranching, animal awareness and appreciation,” says NWSS. “We celebrate western lifestyles, our communities, provide life-long memories and family traditions.”

Included among the festivities, NWSS will celebrate the University of Wyoming on Jan. 17 and Wyoming Day on Jan. 20.

The Wyoming Stock Growers Association (WSGA) will hold their annual Wyoming Day tour on Jan. 20, which leaves from Cheyenne at 7:45 a.m. and returns at 9 p.m. Registration for the event costs $120 per person and includes transportation, lunch, a rodeo ticket and dinner. A half-day registration, which includes lunch and a rodeo ticket for $65, is also available. For more information on joining WSGA to celebrate Wyoming Day, visit wysga.org or call 307-638-3942.
