Green River Valley Cattlemen, CattleWomen honor members for achievements

by Wyoming Livestock Roundup

Marbleton – The biggest weekend of the winter for many Sublette County ranch families is when the Green River Valley CattleWomen (GRVC) and Green River Valley Cattlemen’s Association (GRVCA) combine their annual conventions and honor their members for their accomplishments throughout the year.

On Feb. 27, after GRVC’s business meeting and during GRVCA’s banquet, the men and women who have supported the beef, livestock and agricultural community of Sublette County were honored.

Sherri Bohleen presented honorary 2016 Lifetime Member Awards to Beth Bray and Rosemary Aultman.

The biggest honor of all, presented by GRVC and GRVCA, is Ranch Woman of the Year. The 2016 Ranch Woman of the Year was presented to Susan Bousman of Boulder’s Eastfork Livestock. Jonita Sommers gave Bousman the customary specially made metal sign.

GRVCA honored Sprout Wardell and Bill Mayo as Lifetime Members.

Six family ranches received plaques as Centennial Ranches – operating for a century or longer on the same ground. The ranches honored include Bootjack Ranch, Briggs Ranch, Eastfork Livestock, Inc., JF Ranch, Inc., Mycroft Ranch and Mosquito Creek Ranch.

Before the evening adjourned to a lively dance, the announcement of the two groups’ joint “Friends of Agriculture 2016” presentation was made. This year’s winner is the Bondurant Community Club, which will hold its 75th annual Bondurant Beef BBQ on June 26. The award was accepted by Martha and Bill Saunders and Gerry and Rusty Endecott of the Little Jennie Ranch, which donates a beef each year.
