Gelbvieh’s make strong showing at 2013 test with high gains

A high-quality set of Gelbvieh bulls was tested at Midland this year. The Gelbvieh’s will sell on the first sale date – April 3, beginning at noon. 

Gelbvieh ADG leaders

A close set of ADG leaders was led by lot 1076 with an ADG of 118. The Mytty In Focus son was consigned by Middle Creek Farms, Inc. of Bozeman, Mont. He has EPDs of BW -0.5 WW 68 M 28 YW 111.

Following closely was lot 1062 with an ADG ratio of 117. The bull, consigned by BV Ranch of Nisland, S.D., was sired by SAV 004 Predominant 4438 and has EPDs of BW -0.7 WW 65 M 27 YW 105.

The third high ADG bull, with a ratio of 115, was lot 1074, also consigned by Middle Creek Farms, Inc., was sired by Gott Winter 52W and has EPDs of BW 4.4 WW 82 M 28 YW 125.

In a three-way tie for the fourth place slot, with an ADG of 114 were lots 1059, 1077 and 1085. 

Lot 1059, a son of VNAR In Focus 7326, was consigned by Steve Smith Angus and Gelbvieh of Lehi, Utah. The bull has EPDs of BW 0.2 WW 64 M 22 YW 101.

Lots 1077 and 1085 were both consigned by Middle Creek Farms, Inc. 

Lot 1077, a Mytty In Focus son, has EPDs of BW -0.5 WW 68 M 28 YW 111.

Sired by JobDanell MontanaInfusion, lot 1085 has EPDs of BW 1.9 WW 66 M 28 YW 100.

Also consigned by Middle Creek Farms, Inc. was the fifth high ADG bull, with a ratio of 113. Lot 1081 was sired by VDAR New Design 2122 and has EPDs of BW -1.1 WW 52 M 32 YW 80.

Gelbvieh WDA leaders

Leading the Gelbvieh bulls in WDA, with a 3.97, was lot 1087, a DCSF PostRockSilver 233U1 son consigned by Middle Creek Farms, Inc. of Bozeman, Mont. The bull has EPDs of BW 3.7 WW 78 M 31 YW 115.

Hone Ranch of Garnerville, Nev. consigned the second high bull, which posted a WDA of 3.66. Lot 1065 is a Hyek Black Impact 3960N son with EPDs of BW 2.3 WW 74 M 25 YW 107.

Another Middle Creek Farms, Inc. consignment, lot 1074, took the third spot with a WDA of 3.62. The bull, sired by Gott Winter 52W, has EPDs of BW 4.4 WW 82 M 28 YW 125.

Lot 1062 followed with a WDA of 3.56. The bull was sired by SAV 004 Predominant 4438 and consigned by BV Ranch of Nisland, S.D. He has EPDs of BW -0.7 WW 65 M 27 YW 105.

Rounding out the WDA leaders for the Gelbvieh bulls was lot 1063, a son of DCSFPostRockGranite 200P2, consigned by BV Ranch of Nisland, S.D. He posted EPDs of BW 0.9 WW 68 M 30 YW 104. 

ADG Sire Group leaders

Steve Smith Angus and Gelbvieh of Lehi, Utah consigned the three songs of VNAR In Focus 7326 posting the highest average ADG of Gelbvieh sire groups. Lots 1057, 1058 and 1059 posted an average ADG of 3.59.

Coming in second were three sons of Lazy TV Kahuna S705, lots 1067, 1068 and 1070. The bulls had an average ADG of 3.30 and were consigned by Middle Creek Farms of Bozeman, Mont.

WDA Sire Group leaders

Lots 1067, 1068 and 1070 posted the highest average WDA for their sire group with a 3.37. The bulls were sired by Lazy TV Kahuna S705 and consigned by Middle Creek Farms in Bozeman, Mont.

In second place for the sire group with an average WDA of 3.22 were three sons of VNAR In Focus 7326, lots 1057, 1059 and 1060, consigned by Steve Smith Angus and Gelbvieh of Lehi, Utah.
