Ag Hall of Fame 1997: Ron Micheli

by Wyoming Livestock Roundup

As Director of Agriculture, Ron Micheli has found a place to fully protect and make agriculture a top priority for the state of Wyoming. Micheli has spent countless hours protecting our state’s brucellosis free status. His desire to design innovative predator management programs, create marketing opportunities, address water quality issues, wolf management issues, public land management problems and animal safety has been top priority in his tenure.

Unifying the Department of Agriculture, employees now see the department as a team and Micheli involves everyone in decision making but still takes the lead in making final decision, even if it is unpopular.

Micheli also still maintain ties to ranching. In 1997, Micheli’s ranch produced the Grand Champion Hereford Bull at the National Western Stockshow. A comment in Micheli’s nomination says he “takes great pride in his ranch and livestock; his family remains local leaders in the Bridger Valley.”

Ron and his wife, Patty, spend time with their eight children who participate in 4-H, FFA, sports and church activities.
