Ag Hall of Fame 1997: Dr. Steven Miller

by Wyoming Livestock Roundup

Steve Miller, a professor of Weed Science at the University of Wyoming, is an all around researcher and educator. Miller’s research in weed science has helped many producers not only in Wyoming, but around the nation. His practical approach to weed science has given Miller the opportunity to communicate with farmers. Miller has also published over 830 research and extension publications, which also benefit agriculturalists throughout Wyoming.

Miller is also a strong teacher in the classroom. He keeps his students enthralled with the current research and provides common sense approaches to weed management. Miller’s interest in students doesn’t stop in the classroom. His open door policy encourages students to become more active in agriculture and its policies. Miller also serves as co-advisor of Alpha Gamma Rho, a professional/social fraternity for men in agriculture.

“Steve is one of a kind, the anchor to corner post, a position the rest of us serving Wyoming agriculture look up to and strive to accomplish,” said Miller’s nominator.

Steve and his wife, Bonnie, have two children.
